Under general supervision, but in accordance with established hospital procedures with a complete understanding of state and federal regulations maintains the confidentiality of patient health information and adheres to HIPAA Privacy Rule requirements. Functions as a lead or resource person for clerical employees. Utilizes experience-based knowledge of specific unit/department operations in order o assign work, establish work scheduled and review the work of subordinate clerical employees.

Monitors and evaluates the work processed by subordinate clerical employees. Conducts performance evaluations for assigned staff. Monitors and assigns staff daily responsibilities. Processes records in work queues. Assist providers with EMR documentation requirements and Lifechart deficiencies. Trains new employees, and instructs staff in new procedures. Compiles electronic records for review by outside auditors. Monitors the death certificate processes and assists staff as needed and according to state and hospital policies and procedures.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

A level of knowledge generally obtained through high school or its equivalent.

The ability to operate standard and automated office equipment, including an on-line computer terminal.

Good math skills in order to perform statistical analysis, calculate and verify report totals.

The administrative ability to function as a lead or resource person for clerical employees and coordinate there activities.


EXPERIENCE:

Six to twelve months experience with progressively more responsible experience in order to become familiar with all unit/department functions.
