The Childhood Asthma and Allergy Research Program (CARP) at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown medical school seeks a full-time data coordinator to work across several pediatric behavioral health studies and programs. The CARP lab conducts research studies examining pediatric health disparities projects and developing interventions and programs to improve health outcomes in children and youth. Faculty supervisors are members of the Brown Clinical Psychology Training Consortium and actively involved in research and clinical work with children.
Specific tasks will include the setup and maintenance of participant and data tracking procedures and databases. The data manager will oversee and coordinate the data entry efforts of research support staff (research assistants and undergraduate interns) and may do a limited amount of data entry themselves. The individual will be responsible for maintaining and tracking research devices, and tracking and processing electronic data. Under the supervision of senior statisticians, the data manager will be responsible for conducting preliminary statistical analyses and generated study descriptions have needed for periodic reporting and quality control purposes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1.Serving as data management project lead for assigned research project team(s) to develop operational databases for data collection and study participant tracking, using a variety of software programs.
2.Organization, processing, analysis and reporting of various forms of research data across numerous research projects
3.Reviewing research questionnaires for completeness, following up as necessary with research staff to obtain missing data or to clarify information.
4.Gathering and organizing data to facilitate entry into computer; performing a limited amount of data entry
5.Downloading and processing data collected from various electronic devices
6.Integrating data that have been collected by various techniques and in numerous formats
7.Performing statistical analyses, predictive analytics and data mining
8.Providing a variety of reports summarizing research data for internal and external purposes
9.Reviewing results to detect and correct errors.
10.Documenting, maintaining, and ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of the data
11.May be responsible for maintaining equipment and recommending changes to existing software to improve quality of data analysis.

1.A minimum of a master’s degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Statistics, Experimental Psychology, Quantitative Methodology, Computer Science, or a related field
2.Experience with research concepts and techniques
3.Ability to function autonomously in a collaborative interdisciplinary team involving research, medical and mental health care professionals and bioinformatics experts
4.Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
5.Ability to multitask and to perform job effectively under pressure
6.Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
7.Demonstrated team leadership skills
8.Ability to work harmoniously with a diverse group of individuals
9.Strong computer skills including experience with statistical software packages, electronic data acquisition programs and other computer platforms and electronic devices.
10.Ability to commit to the position for three or more years
