Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health care, or health science discipline required. Master’s Degree in health care or health science discipline preferred. Requires strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Six Sigma Green Belt certification within 18 months of entering position is required. Certified professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred. Effective interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with professional and hospital staff on clinical quality measure performance. The ability to educate leadership as well as front-line staff on topics related to clinical quality measures and performance is essential.
QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five years previous work experience, which includes data abstraction and assessment of measure performance. Should have experience developing improvement strategies to optimize quality measure performance. Must be highly organized with attention to detail and deadlines. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The Supervisor Clinical Abstraction reports to the Director of Clinical and Patient Experience. Provides oversight of the duties associated with the abstraction of clinical quality data for public (and other) reporting requirements for all Lifespan affiliates. Responsible for monitoring workflow, abstraction and data submission timelines and due dates for CMS and TJC quality measure reporting requirements, including both the Inpatient and Outpatient Hospital Quality Reporting Programs and other key clinical surgical/medical data registries. Ensures that new standards and changes to measure sets are monitored, and that key stakeholders are educated on measure specifications. Serves as the liaison between Lifespan and certified related vendors and outsourced abstraction services.
