Requires completion of a Bachelor’s degree level of education or its equivalent proficiency in an administrative field.

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Requires the interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients, their families, hospital staff and to direct the activities of subordinate clerical and the interpreting staff.

Requires ability and judgement to establish priorities for concurrent demands for service.

Analytical ability is required to search records, understand materials and prepare a variety of reports and documents. Written and oral skills are required to effectively communicate policies and procedures. The ability to exercise considerable independent judgment is required.

Organizational ability to prioritize and assign work and to develop and maintain records and filing systems is required. Proficient computer skills are necessary.

Bilingual is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Three years progressively more responsible administrative and supervisory experience is required.


Reports to the Manager of Interpreter Services or designee. Coordinates day to day Interpreter Services operations at Rhode Island Hospital. Supervisory responsibility for Interpreter Dispatchers and general oversight for Medical Interpreters and outside contractors.
