Bachelor’s Degree in Applied or Life Sciences, Public health or related area.
Successful completion of Safe Kids Child Passenger Safety Technician certification course within 3 months of hire.
Ability to speak in front of groups to make presentations/ speak at community events.
Current and valid driver’s license to transport car seats in Community van and attend community events.
Proficient typing skills are required in order to prepare a variety of materials, some, such as grant proposals and manuscripts, requiring a precise format. Should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Must also perform data entry. A high level of organizational skills to prepare complex schedules and conference arrangements and to maintain departmental files, records and statistical data.
Ability to speak and understand Spanish is desirable.
Under the general supervision of the Injury Prevention Center Project Coordinator, the Program Assistant performs a variety of activities to support the Center and its community outreach programs including, but not limited to screening potential car seat participants, coordinating and providing community based education programs and installing car seats.
Duties include making presentations in a classroom setting or community center. Attends health fairs and other community events. Some of these events would require working nights and/or weekends. Assists with and creates content for community outreach social media accounts. Assists with community based research projects including recruiting research subjects, collecting and analyzing data.
