BS/BA Degree or equivalent knowledge in patient management/accounting systems which includes reconciliations, cash management and receivables reporting.

Ten years progressively more responsible experience in patient account management with a minimum of seven years supervisory experience. Experience in managing complex patient accounting systems is preferred. Billing, Collection and Reimbursement experience for both professional and hospital services required. Advanced knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding, medical terminology and third-party reimbursement policies required. Advanced technical knowledge in the use of financial systems software applications, databases and spreadsheets. Siemens computer systems. Ability to plan, develop, manage overall department budgets.

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Patient Financial Services (PFS), responsible and accountable for timely claims submission, accounts receivable for Bradley School Solutions, Ambulance billing, and credit and collection process for Lifespan and its Rhode Island affiliates. Patient Financial Services acts as the hospital’s primary contact for patient reimbursement issues in accordance with established credit policies. Staff provide information regarding hospital payment requirements and alternative financing. This position is accountable for the success of revenue cycle processes and controls relating to DNFB, Bill holds and root cause analysis/correction of front-end billing errors/claim rejections/denials.
