Location: Providence, RI
Graduate of a school of nursing, Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred, with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or in the nurse’s primary state of legal residency if that state is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact. Conformity to the Code of Professional Nurses. Understanding of the provisions of the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. Or, Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology with a Rhode Island Medical Technologist license. Or Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Certification as an Infection Control Professional required within 3 years of hire.
Knowledge of microorganisms, modes of transmission, and signs and symptoms of infections are needed. Ability to use a personal computer and knowledge of data base software desirable.
Demonstrated skill in both verbal and written communication.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Three years’ experience in hospital epidemiology/infection control preferred.
Reports to the Director Infection Control. Following established policies and procedures, assists in gathering and monitoring data related to infections occurring in the hospital, monitors adherence to established infection prevention and control procedures, and assists in in-service education programs. Performs all essential functions with consideration of the age-specific needs of the geriatric, adult, and adolescent patient.
