Under general supervision of Manager of Interventional Radiology and the sections Medical Director following established policies and procedures, and in conjunction with other technical healthcare personnel, Performs vascular and interventional exams. Ensures the functional integrity of the equipment.
All essential functions performed in the position reflect age specific needs of the geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients. Fosters patient and family centered care and nursing services in accordance with the Lifespan and Rhode Island Hospital mission, vision, and values, with consideration of the life span, including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Two years of formal training in an approved School of radiological technology, plus registration through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists.

Current/valid license from the Department of Health to practice in the State of Rhode Island.

Must hold a current CPR certification from AHA, BLS for Healthcare Providers.


Must take advanced registry test in Cardiovascular/Interventional Technology, given by the American Registry of radiologic Technologists within three (3) years of placement in Vascular/Interventional section of Diagnostic Imaging.

Must have the interpersonal skills necessary to interface effectively with the following groups:
a.Patients, in order to allay their fears and anxieties.
b.Physicians and other staff members in a team working relationship.
c.Other hospital employees and outsiders to exchange information.

Must have the analytical ability to calculate and select the proper technical factors to provide acceptable radiographs, and to simultaneously operate a variety of equipment.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires between three to six months experience on the job training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology procedures.
