Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with an MSN or higher. Board certification from the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as preferably an Acute Care or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Graduation from a Physician Assistant program with a MS degree or its equivalent. Passing grade in certifying examination administered by the NCCPA. Certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.

Licensed in the state of Rhode Island as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges and DEA licensure. Certified in American Heart Association Basic Life Support/Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the lifespan with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and sensitivity to cultural diversity in each step of the care process.


Three to five years of experience in a clinical intensive medical center, preferably in the area of cardiovascular medicine. Prior supervisory experience desirable.

Under the direction of the Division Director of Cardiology, and the Director of Cardiovascular Services, assists the medical staff in the organization of the clinical services including scheduling, clinical assignment, evaluation and in-service education of Advance Practice Providers (APPs). Under the supervision of the Director of Inpatient Cardiology, provides care of the inpatient cardiac patients on the following units: RIH ICCU, TMH CCU, TMH 4E/4W and TMH/RIH Cardiac Catheterization and EP Laboratories. All essential functions performed in these positions reflect the age specific needs of the patients.
