Location: Providence, RI
Completion of formal education in an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or in another state that participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Thorough knowledge of professional clinical nursing in operating room environment with expertise in specialty area of responsibility.
Leadership and supervisory ability to direct activities of subordinate professional, technical and support personnel.
Interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with staff, physicians, vendors, patients, families and other members of health care team and conduct educational programs.
Organizational, professional and analytical skills to evaluate and monitor quality of patient care and to evaluate plan and develop all aspects of surgical specialty programs.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Twelve to eighteen months of increasing responsibility and nursing experience in operating room with considerable exposure to specialty area involved.
An additional six months on-the-job experience to become familiar with area of responsibility.
Under the general supervision of the Surgical Services Manager and in accordance with established procedures, is responsible for ensuring the availability of personnel, equipment, instrumentation and supplies necessary to providing quality patient care within assigned surgical specialty area in operating room setting. In conjunction with Surgical Services Manager and (specialty) source needs. Develops and implements area policies and procedures. Trains and supervises professional, technical and support personnel within assigned responsibility.
