Must be a graduate of either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant Program. If a Nurse Practitioner, must have a Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Nurse Practitioner certification or certification eligible by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Licensed in the State of Rhode Island as a Nurse Practitioner; license must include prescriptive privileges.
If a Physician Assistant, must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Program with a M.S. degree. Passing grade on certifying examination administered by the NCCPA. Certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants
Basic Life Support/Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.
Functions with demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of the aging processes, human development stage and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Five years’ experience of cardiovascular care. Prior supervisory experience desirable.
Reports to the Administrative Director of the Cardiovascular Service Line. Under the direction of the Division Directors of the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI), and the Administrative Director, CVI, is responsible for the organization of clinical services, in-service education, and evaluation of Advanced Practice Providers. Also, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining other cardiovascular programs within the Cardiovascular Service Line. Leadership role with expectations of honesty, integrity, credibility and vision to engage staff to achieve overall goals. Ability to motivate and influence staff’s commitment to the organization’s success. Clinical responsibilities include providing direct patient care with physician supervision. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patients.
