Master’s Degree or equivalent in fields such as adult learning, organizational development or behavioral sciences. Credentialed in formal process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, PDCA) preferred.


At least ten years of overall professional experience, including significant time in organizational development or educational program development in business or institutional setting of similar size and complexity is required; supervisory experience strongly preferred. Alignment and coordination of professional and administrative staff, project and managerial experience required. Experience with process improvement, job redesign, team building and development. Experience in working with electronic health record systems.


The IS Training Manager reports to the Director Clinical Informatics. Develops, implements, and leads the provision of training to project training consultants and users of the electronic health record. Evaluates and advises on various aspects of project implementation, organizational development, process improvement, and related training needs in support of multi-disciplinary project teams responsible for the deployment, optimization, and ongoing operation of the system, including the execution of all interfaces necessary to assure a patient-centric, high value, widely accessible, comprehensive, and seamlessly integrated information network that meets identified needs of sponsors and stakeholders. Develops strategies and delivers programs and services that support the project’s success through the management of change, workforce development, and continuous learning.

Develops, implements, and evaluates strategies for strategic training programs to in support of successful system implementation and optimization to drive high quality patient care, organizational productivity and positive financial results. Coordinates a broad spectrum of learning and knowledge management services to maximize workforce performance related to the electronic health record system.

Evaluates, assesses and establishes an integrated curriculum delivery methodology in alignment with adult learning theories and that meet or exceed the standards for learning established for the project. Plans and collaborates in assessing training needs to ensure planned training programs address identified needs of individuals, project teams, and other workgroups as well as organizational priorities and managerial performance requirements. May conduct employee educational needs surveys to define and assess unmet learning needs and to determine level of feasibility of new or modified programs or services.

Advises project leadership and sponsors on processes for achieving improved organizational effectiveness and successful system deployment and acceptance. Consults with managers and supervisors to diagnose and address system-related challenges and to plan and implement appropriate problem-solving interventions. Consults as needed with others responsible for implementation of agreed-upon solutions.

Oversees the management of all administrative aspects of assigned educational programs directly and through LifeChart training consultants to include scheduling training locations; producing program announcements, handouts, follow-up communications and related collaterals; arranging for provision of audiovisual hardware and software; overseeing registration and recordkeeping of participants; and preparing or overseeing preparation of all program documentation as needed.

Works with project leadership and teams to help establish priorities, processes and guidelines for the provision of educational programs, processes, and guidelines for the provision of training related to the electronic health record system and to assist departments in understanding principles and methods of adult education and the management of change.

Prepares a variety of narrative reports for distribution or publication internally. Delivers verbal and written status reports to stakeholder groups. Tracks and monitors strategic milestones.

Provides management and functional leadership to project training consultants. Selects, assigns, coaches project training staff. Encourages, enables, and models teamwork and staff participation in training planning and decision-making.

Participates with other system-wide leaders in the discussion, review and approval of new or revised processes and procedures. Acts as a liaison between Lifespan Learning Institute and other Lifespan units.

Participates in ongoing independent study, education-related professional activities and affiliations, maintaining the advanced practitioner's level of knowledge of leading edge developments in the field of process improvement, organizational and employee development. Participates in professional organizations related to organizational development and training.

Participates in or leads various committees, task forces and quality improvement teams as needed.
