Under the general direction of the VP/CDO of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the Manager of Special Events and Corporate Relations performs a variety of duties in the areas of planning, coordinating, and implementing activities related to corporate cultivation and solicitation of event contributions, promotions, and partnerships. Oversees Special Events team in the planning of fundraising special event activities for Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Consistently applies the corporate values of respect, honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly, geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system. Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Lifespan Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
Writes and manages the implementation of a strategic/business plan for corporate donors to maximize their giving potential to Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Develops corporate marketing and sponsorship plans that match the philanthropic interest of the corporate donor with the fundraising needs of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Manages, evaluates, and sets goals for all members of the Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital Special Events team.
Works in concert with VP/CDO and the appropriate development staff to ensure a plan of solicitation of corporate prospects for Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Recruits and works with volunteer committees to identify, cultivate, solicit, track and acknowledge corporations for event-related sponsorship gifts. Identifies potential sponsors and underwriters for each event and develops a plan to secure support.
Creates corporate sponsorship packages for each event, continually evaluating the benefits offered at each sponsorship level. Works in concert with the Special Events team to manage the corporate solicitation process, including mailing the sponsorship packages, sending pledge reminders to sponsors, obtaining sponsor logos, obtaining sponsor guest names and sponsor stewardship (thank-you letters and follow-up).
Initiates telephone calls and phone follow-up as necessary as it relates to corporate recruitment, promotion, and sponsorships.
Works with VP/CDO and all Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital staff involved in major gift activity to coordinate approach and create a strategy for the best case for giving for corporate prospects throughout the year.
Composes and maintains a variety of lists/reports that pertain to corporate giving and special events for analysis as needed by development staff and/or volunteers.
Executes specific aspects of event plans associated with the generation and maintenance of corporate giving. Works with the Special Events team to coordinate these efforts.
Attends all fundraising special events as required and provides recognition to corporate donors as appropriate.
Manages events project calendar. Recommends modifications to project planning calendar and/or assignments as necessary when unforeseen issues arise that may interfere with success of event.
Participates in development of event budgets. Monitors related expense and revenue budgets, research and reconcile variances, reporting on same to Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital leadership.
Writes event briefings and speaking points (as needed) for each event and conducts event briefing presentations for leadership (as needed).
Monitors event timelines and project lists to ensure compliance to schedule and quality and effectiveness of efforts.
Actively participates in the planning and execution of each event, working closely with the event coordinator to ensure workload and work flow is appropriately allocated.
Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established system policies, procedures and objectives.
A Bachelor’s degree in management, marketing, business or a related field.
Successful track record in soliciting and stewarding corporate donors required. Effective leadership and management skills required to direct team members in all related activities.
Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database management applications.
Superlative oral and written communication skills as well as ability to organize and manage projects within defined timeframe and budget.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
