Masters of Science Degree.

Graduate of accredited program in psychiatric nursing.

Specialty certification required with prescriptive privileges.

Baccalaureate in Nursing.

Must have current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or in another state that participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Two years of related experience as an RN in an acute care hospital setting.

One to two years experience as a nurse practitioner.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in interactions with patients, families, staff and other professionals.

We are currently hiring a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to work in our Psychiatry Department. The Nurse Practitioner reports directly to the Medical Director of Adult Medical Consultation Psychiatry Service for clinical practice and administratively to the Director for the Nursing Professional Practice and Research Department. This role facilitates a quality hospital experience, outcome for patients through timely action, and proper use of resources. The NP oversees a specific caseload of patients and is responsible to perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments, patient examinations, review of medical records, and collection of collateral data. The NP will liaison with hospital staff regarding the clinical status of patients and provide treatment recommendations. This role provides appropriate education, consultation, and resources for adult medical patients with psychiatric conditions across the care continuum.
