High School graduate or the equivalent.
Current Rhode Island registration as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Successful completion of the Hospital’s patient care delivery orientation program, which includes entry level credentialing of selected skills. Certification in Basic Life Support.
Meets and maintains competency requirements according to the nursing credentailing policy and procedures.
Completion of an accredited program in medical office practices and patient care instruction or the equivalent preferred. Program must include coursework in diverse patient care activities, medical office procedures, and personal computer operation.
Familiarity with preparing medical records effecting patient scheduling and operating a computer to enter and access medial records.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
At least one year prior related experience in effectively coordinating and managing patient flow through a clinic or physician’s office, and performing patient care duties to include EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen collection and testing, documenting activities in records, etc.
Demonstrated experience with computerized scheduling and record systems. Familiarity with preparing medical records effecting patient scheduling and operating a computer to enter and access medical records.
Reports to the Ambulatory Clinic Manager and under the general direction and supervision of the professional staff, provides for hygienic, comfort and safety needs of patients and families. Under supervision, assists in a variety of patient care duties, including collecting and testing specimens, taking and recording vital signs, performing EKGs and the like. Updates computerized and manual records as appropriate.
