An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Ruhul Abid’s laboratory in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery to study pathophysiology of coronary angiogenesis in myocardial ischemia using state-of-the-art techniques at the molecular, cellular and organismal levels. The research themes of the lab are to understand the roles of cytosolic and mitochondrial oxidant signaling in vascular endothelial phenotype. The experimental methods use a combination of biochemistry, molecular biology, transgenic mice and large animal models including myocardial ischemia model, and human disease samples. The successful candidate will work to elucidate the mechanisms and participate in the development of therapeutic modalities. The Cardiovascular Research Center and the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery nurture a high-energy, interactive, and mentoring environment for the fellows, students and faculty members.
