Job Title: Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse

Location: Providence, RI
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or in the nurse’s primary state of legal residency if that state is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact. Conforms to the Code of Professional Nurses. Understands the provisions of the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island. Responsible for maintaining a current knowledge of contemporary professional nursing practice within the legal framework of the Nurse Practice Act.
Knowledge of exercise physiology and exercise prescription required. Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology with a cardiopulmonary specialization preferred. Experience should include EKG and rhythm strip interpretation. Knowledge of exercise physiology and exercise prescription preferred.
American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Specialist certification preferred. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required; may obtain within six months of appointment.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Six months of Cardiology experience required. Six months of experience in Cardiac Rehabilitation preferred.
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Cardiac Rehabilitation/Non-Invasive Cardiology, and the Medical Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, evaluates, provides physical assessment, and performs all other duties pertaining to an exercise prescription for cardiac patients within the Academic Medical Center. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patients.
