High School level of knowledge is needed to read, interpret, and understand written and oral instructions. An appropriate level of Interpersonal skills are needed to effectively exchange information with other hospital personnel, patients, visitors to help assure patient’s needs are being met and acceptable quality of care standards are be met.
Physical ability for continuous standing along with walking, pushing radiographic equipment, stretchers, and wheelchairs, as well as lifting and positioning of patients.
Appropriate numerical and analytical skills are needed to maintain inventory, prepare contrast media, and follows procedures to prepare patients for radiographs.
Manual dexterity to operate film developers, various types of equipment, and/or set up transport equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Ability to read and write English and to perform basic arithmetic computations to verify shipments, complete charge information, and perform stock reconciliations.
Clerical ability to maintain files and operate standard office equipment, such as photocopier and computer terminal.
Up to three months experience to become familiar with terminology, equipment, supplies and procedures.
Under the general supervision of Lead Technologist and in accordance with established policies and procedures, transports patients requiring radiographic procedures, may process exposed radiographic film, may copy radiographic films, assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and cleanliness of work area, may pick up and deliver supplies for department, may perform related duties such as completing forms and logs and entering data into computer terminal.
