Completion of high school or equivalent to deal effectively with Hospital employees, patients and the public.
Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors and employees, physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and visual acuity in order to observe activities in assigned area.
Active Driver’s License required, RI Driver’s License preferred. Manual and motor skills to drive and park security vehicles according to licensing standards of the State Department of Motor Vehicles. Must have good driving record, meet and maintain the appropriate and valid driver’s license in order to operate assigned motor vehicles as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and in accordance with the Lifespan Fleet Risk Control Policy. Alert driving training is required prior to operating a Lifespan vehicle.
Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification (CPI) is required within 90 days of employment; certification must be maintained, and all criteria and standards of the CPI must be met.
Customer Service Training must be completed within 60 days of employment.
Previous training in security techniques or directly related job experience.
One to three months of on-the-job experience to become familiar with Hospital complex, policies and procedures.
3+ years’ experience preferred in hospital security, police, emergency medical, or customer service.
Reports to the Security Manager and is responsible for monitoring utilization of restricted parking areas, patrolling the assigned parking areas, and reporting any unusual or suspicious activities to the Security Dispatcher for investigation. Protects Hospital buildings, assets and premises as assigned and provides a safe and secure environment for patients, employees and visitors.
