Knowledge gained through the completion of high school or the equivalent and a minimum of two years related Access, Alarm, CCTV experience

Must have a good driving record; maintain a valid driver’s license.

Must be able and willing to take initiative and handle various tasks simultaneously while working efficiently, effectively, and independently under minimal supervision


One to three years of security or related experience required.

Supervisory experience required.

Previous training in security techniques or directly related job experience preferred.

Demonstrated technical background, experience with physical security equipment and systems.

Experience in installing, configuring, and set up of cameras, and access control systems.

Experience in troubleshooting outages, and performing system and equipment and system upgrades as needed.

Interpersonal communication skills to deal with patients, visitors and all levels of Lifespan personnel, often in situations requiring a high degree of poise and tact.

The Security Specialist reports to the Security Manager. Under general supervision, is responsible for the supervision of security officers and maintains the automated security/CCTV/intrusion alarm/panic alarm systems. Monitors utilization of restricted parking areas, assigns patrols of assigned parking areas, and investigates any unusual or suspicious activities. Leads security investigations, prepares incident reports. Provides protection of outreach buildings, assets and premises as assigned and provides security for patients, employees and visitors by preventing entrance of unauthorized or undesirable persons. Trains and evaluates security officers. Responds to “codes” according to established policies and procedures. Oversees the overall operation of the outreach sites security functions.
