-Associate Degree in Computer Science, Media Production or other Technical Majors, strongly preferred.
-Licensed Healthcare professional (Paramedic, RN, PA, etc.)
-Familiarity with basic computer programming theory is necessary.
-Skills and abilities in computer use, setup and maintenance are required. Knowledge of Windows 7 and Mac OS X computer systems are preferred. Knowledge and ability to operate digital audio-visual editing (Adobe Premiere, Macromedia suite, Sonic Foundry Audio/Video suite) are preferred.
-Ability to learn and master system and proprietary software is required.
-Ability to independently troubleshoot A/V and computer simulation-related equipment.

EXPERIENCE:

-Three years of educational/training experience.
-Three years of experience in a clinical, medical, acute-care setting is preferred.
-The ability to effectively plan and produce quality, innovative audiovisual programs.
-Experience translating clinical needs into successful processes and supporting system designs
-Flexible, self-motivated and self-directed, team player with good problem solving skills. Willingness and aptitude to learn new technologies. Knowledge of patient simulation education, technologies, and application.
-Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to simulator functions.
-Knowledge of audio/visual production and editing preferred.


Under the supervision of the Simulation Center Administrative Manager, and in collaboration with the Medical Director, the Simulation Program Development Specialist/Instructor supports the Simulation Center staff in the day-to-day operation and strategic development of high-fidelity medical simulation education and research programs. Such programs are focused on patient safety, clinical skill development and medical error prevention. The Simulation Program Development Specialist/Instructor provides guidance and support to course directors and course facilitators as they create simulation enhanced educational programs. Develops and facilitates simulation-enhanced educational opportunities based on staff needs, clinical and regulatory requirements, professional development and quality improvement programs. Identifies grant opportunities for simulation-based research funding for programs conducted in conjunction with staff at LMSC. Participates in the development and programming of simulation courses for healthcare providers (Attending MDs, fellows, residents, medical students, RNs, RRT, and all hospital staff as appropriate) using the latest high fidelity simulation technology and practices.
