Cardiac Device Technician

Provide thorough proficient pacemaker and automatic implantable cardiac defibrillator (AICD) interrogation and re-programming to cardiac device patients in person remotely and/or via phone transmission. Responsible for initial device analysis preliminary report generation and alerting physician or non-physician practitioner to urgent issues requiring further attention.


Interrogate interpret and re-program cardiac devices with minimal physician supervision.

Trouble shoot critical device issues and take immediate steps toward resolution.

Collaborate with physicians regarding device status and accurately document device analysis in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for review.

Educate patients on all aspects of their device including remote monitoring and follow-up protocol.

Ensure charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.

Schedule patients for device appointment follow up in EMR and remote website. Immediately contact �no show" patients to ensure they are re-scheduled.

Assist nurses and non-physician practitioners in the delivery of patient teaching.

Consistently travel to associate offices for assigned device clinics.

Participate in positive proactive inter- and intra-departmental communication. Promote a healthy clinical environment and good working relationships.

Serve as resource to physicians and other practice employees regarding device patients and services.

Keep equipment in good working condition and notify appropriate personnel of problem areas or safety issues.

Ensure programming rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.

Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.


Other information:



Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners device exam (IBHRE) or Certified Cardiac Device
Specialist (CCDS)
from a recognized device training school preferred.

Minimum of three to five years of experience
as a Certified Medical Assistant or Exercise Physiologist

analyzing and reprogramming implanted cardiac devices
would be considered.


Current BLS
certification preferred.

Ambulatory care environment. Any potential hazard is
minimized or nullified by adherence to established safety procedures and the
use of protective clothing and equipment

Working conditions are generally good exposed to
normal patient care environment when visiting patients and meeting with other
healthcare personnel. Sits stands and walks throughout the day.




Performs independently within department policies
and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where
clarification of department policies and procedures may be required.
