Clinical Service Assistant

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor perform a variety of duties as assigned to support the nursing staff. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patient

 

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transport patients during unit-to-unit transfers and to the morgue.

Collect specimens cultures orders and requisition and deliver items to appropriate destination.

Restock supplies and necessary items within units as needed.

Obtain and deliver equipment as requested from Stores the OR VIR etc.

Respond to all RRTs and Codes throughout the hospital and await instruction from Supervisor.

Replace any used Code Carts after RRT or relevant code.

***Escort visitors out of the hospital after visiting hours are over

Maintain quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies procedures and objectives.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

BLS Required

Perform other related duties as required.

 

Other information:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

High school graduate or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

One month to perform proficiently all basic duties.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Acute care hospital environment. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing. Position requires frequent standing walking pushing stretchers/beds sitting lifting over 50 lbs with good body mechanics. Must be able to use both hands/wrists and perform work that deviates from neutral position and be able to perform fine motor skills. Must have accurate near and far vision 20/20 depth perception and discriminate among colors.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Plans and organizes priorities for effective patient care within the scope of existing departmental policies generally refers specific problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.

None.
