Decision Support Analyst

Summary:
Under the general direction of the Manager of Decision Support Services responsible for the maintenance and updating of the Enterprise Wide Eclipsys Sunrise Decision Support Manager (TII) system. Responsible for the timely and accurate dissemination of management information from automated decision support system and for the integrity of the data. Performs in-depth profitability analyses across affiliates for senior management as well as various Finance Committees. Trains users in report writing and promotes system capabilities to all levels of management.

 

Responsibilities:
Maintains and verifies accuracy of daily posting to RMS and DCR modules of Eclipsys Sunrise Decision Support Manager (TII) assuring system reconciles to SMS source documents.



Produces monthly DCM Flexible Budget reports for management. Ensures that information is accurate timely and issued in a manner responsive to management needs.



Sets up and maintains required records documents reports correspondence specifications and other data related to studies and analyses.



Participates as a member or may lead teams reviewing cost and or profitability issues within/across the affiliates.



Performs in-depth analyses of profitability utilization costing by service line DRG attending MD etc.



Develops and leads training programs for new and current users of Eclipsys Sunrise Decision Support Manager (TII).



Responsible for testing of new releases of Eclipsys Sunrise Decision Support Manager (TII) ensuring that all �bugs� are resolved before going live.



Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge by attending seminars Eclipsys sponsored webinars and conferences.



Responsible for yearly budget activities related to updating of Departmental Cost Manager (DCM).



Enhances the department�s overall effectiveness through the performance of the following specialized duties and responsibilities.



- Audits Patient Level Database and makes necessary revisions to ensure accuracy of the Eclipsys Sunrise Decision Support Manager (TII) database.



- Prepares quarterly reconciliation of Eclipsys Sunrise Decision Support Manager (TII) to the published Financial Statements. Investigates any variances greater than one percent.



- Identifies SMS issues that impact Eclipsys Sunrise Decision Support Manager (TII). Works with Information Services to resolve.



- Produces Quarterly Profitability reports.



- Produces Executive Management Summary Reports which include a narrative overview of profitability as well as charts and graphs.

 

Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor�s Degree in accounting finance business administration or related field.



Strong understanding of Cost Accounting Health Care Finance and Hospital Financial Systems.



Demonstrated proficiency in Eclipsys Sunrise Decision Support Manager (TII).



Proficient in the use of mainframe systems including SMS CA-Dispatch and Datawatch.



Proficient in the use of PC-based systems and strong financial computer systems knowledge including Access PowerPoint and Excel.



Strong understanding of database principals.



Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills to deal and communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.



Exceptional organizational skills and effective use of available resources.



Ability to multi-task prioritize workload and respond to urgent requests.



Serves as a resource for other departments seeking utilization and profitability data.



EXPERIENCE:

Three to five years progressively responsible experience in health care with a heavy emphasis in one or more of the following areas: financial analysis financial reporting financial operations database management cost accounting and departmental operations.



Comprehensive understanding of microcomputer spreadsheet use and database management.



Experience in the use of mainframe computer systems.



Work is performed in a typical office environment requiring extended periods of sitting with arms extended as well as walking and standing.
