Registered Nurse I

New Grad Residency Program: Full-time 36 hour nights; a mix of 8 and 12 hour shift; every other weekend and holiday rotation.  


Areas of Interest -  5 Candidates will be hired for each area of Interest:


Co-Op New Grad Program - consists of CC2; CC3 and CC3:  All medical surgical floor with specialties:

CC2 is a Medical Surgical Floor with Orthopedic and Urology; CC3 is a Medical Surgical Post Surgical with Burn and Trauma; CCC4 is a Medical Surgical/Telemetry Vascular and Trauma. 


The Neuro New Grad Program-  consists of Bridge 6 and 7 and Main 7B:  All medical surgical floors with Neuro/stroke patients population 

Bridge 6 is a Post-surgical Spine Neurosurgery and Kidney Transplant ;  Bridge 7 is a Medical Surgical Floor with Neuro stroke seizures & spine Surgery and 7B is a Medical Surgical Floor with Neuro and spine surgery.


Main New Grad Program - consists of Main 6 Main 9 and 10. -   All Medical Surgical Floors:

Main 6 is a Medical Surgical floor with Kidney & Dialysis; Main 9 and 10 are general medical surgical floor with higher population of substance abuse patients


Jane Brown Program - consists of 1 2 3 and 4th floor- All General Medical Surgical Floors 


Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager (or designee) implements supervises and evaluates the nursing care of each patient using a nursing process and in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. From admission to discharge plans with consideration of the aging process throughout the life span including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.

 

Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care.



Provides leadership by delegating supervising and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary personnel.



Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies opportunities for improvement.



Collaborates with the healthcare team patient family and community services regarding the patient care outcome/discharge planning.



Assesses and Provides appropriate teaching based on patient and family needs.



Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.



Utilizes all available resources to provide quality cost effective patient care.



Meets and maintains clinical competencies measured by pre-determined credentialing standards mandatory/safety education and completion of Basic Life Support and ACLS/PALS as appropriate.



Identifies growth needs and Participates in educational opportunities and professional organizations.



Serves as a role model/preceptor to new graduate nurses and less experienced personnel.



Assumes charge nurse responsibility for the patient care unit as delegated.

 

Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.



Must have current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.



Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.



WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Visual and aural ability to monitor patient status.



Physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning patients.



Exposed to patient care environment.



Physical ability for extensive walking and standing; lifting positioning and pushing patients on stretchers.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
