Respiratory Therapist Hme Care

Under general direction assists Respiratory Manager with the assessment of client needs according to physicians' prescription. Educates patient/family/caregivers in hospital or at home where needed according to policy. Sets up and delivers necessary equipment and supplies to meet those needs/program/business development and marketing efforts.


Develops implements revises and communicates a plan of care that includes short and long-term goals and project the frequency of visits and the expected duration of service. Teaches and supervises the client or caregivers on activities that will contribute to the attainment of the care plan goals. Assures accurate and timely documentation.

Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the care provided throughout follow-up visits altering as conditions change and reporting to physician on ongoing basis. Consults and cooperate with other professionals in the care of the client.

Assists Respiratory Manager with program/business development and marketing efforts. Assists with preparing of budget program costs and cost control procedures.

Follow up in writing using company standards to resolve problems as they are identified. Participate in quality activities which support Lifespan Diversified Service customer service and process improvement goals.

Evaluates respiratory equipment and recommends for purchase.

Maintains a positive image of Lifespan Diversified Service. Establishes relationships with physicians hospitals and other referral sources.

Follows and maintains policies and procedures in regard to infection control.


Other information:

Associates degree (A.S.) from college or university or equivalent is required.

Must be a certified registered Respiratory Therapist licensed in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Able to read analyze and interpret professional journals technical procedures or government regulations.

Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients customers and the general public.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentage and volumes.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Must have a valid driver's license with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in acceptable working order.


At least three years related pediatric experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is exposed to outside weather conditions when traveling between sites and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

Patients' home environments are variable with regard to heat noise air circulation and conditioning space cleanliness accessibility and all other environmental factors.

Inpatient and skilled nursing facility environments are standardized.
