Summary: Under the general supervision
of the Professional Nurse provides direct patient care to the surgical
patient. Assists the surgical team
with/by positioning patients scrubbing preparing and cleaning instruments and
restocking of supplies. Maintains
patient confidentiality. Fosters patient and family centered care in accordance
with the Lifespan mission vision and
values and the philosophy of nursing at The Miriam Hospital and with consideration
of the life span including all developmental stages as well as cultural
patterns
Responsibilities: Prepares operating room in a timely manner with all Scrubs on a variety of surgical procedures; anticipates Maintains strict aseptic technique and a safe environment Checks all equipment and instruments for proper functioning Demonstrates competence in care of specimens; follows Accurately performs surgical counts according to policy and Assists in positioning of patients according to department Cleans and prepares room between cases and after the last Cleans and prepares instruments and equipment for Keep accurate account of medications and solutions used May transport patients to and from the patient units Participates in hospital/department quality improvement Perform other related duties as required. Performs all
anticipated supplies instruments and equipment.

Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
