Clinical Supervisor

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Pediatric Social Work the Clinical Supervisor operates in a supervisory role within an interdisciplinary health care team utilizing an integrated care and treatment model; facilitates effective peer outreach case management and navigational services to patients with substance use mental health and social needs; and coordinates collaboration with the medical home-primary care (PCP) community services case managers and social workers to deliver interventions that will address social needs and maximize patient health outcomes.

 

Responsibilities:

Provides regular clinical supervision and work direction to peer staff including Community Health Workers (CHW) and Peer Recovery Specialists and others as assigned. Is familiar with the workflow of all clinical service sites. Coordinates work assignment of employees and ensures adequate coverage for clinical area of responsibility.

Communicates policy and procedures to area personnel and participates in their development.

Provides input on hiring employee work performance and evaluations. May participate in counseling of supervisees around performance issues.

Create a professional environment that supports stimulates and challenges each CHW/PRS.

Conduct periodic evaluations of CHW work performance through direct observation assessments and reflection and supports development of CHW individualized professional goals.

Serve as liaison between the professional staff and the community; including developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders at community organizations.

Maintains records prepares reports and composes correspondence relative to supervisory administrative and/or program management functions.


Provide substance use education and clinical oversight to staff who work directly with patients with co-occurring disorders.


Assisting the multidisciplinary team with brief intervention and substance use interventions.


Assessment for substance use treatment and utilization of the ASAM to ensure appropriate treatment is being sought.


Working with a multidisciplinary team inclusive of medical providers Community Health Workers and Peers pharmacy and addiction specialists.

From a program development or administrative perspective provides clinical consultation in area of expertise within and outside the hospital.

Participates in and/or supports departmental studies grants projects committees and quality assurance activities.

Maintains and enhances professional expertise through educational activities.

Adheres to Lifespan Hospital and departmental policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment of care and be in compliance with all laws regulations and standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Master�s degree preferred or a bachelor�s degree and minimum of five (5) years relevant professional experience preferably in a health or substance use treatment setting with an emphasis on populations to be served in the assigned area.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and to develop or administer clinical services with consideration of stages of human development and cultural patterns. Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patients programs and procedures.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills thorough record-keeping follow through and ability to juggle multiple priorities in fast-paced environment with multiple collaborators.

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in supervision program development or administration required. Prior experience using an electronic health record preferred. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Works in multiple settings including normal office environments as well as emergency department and outpatient clinical settings with exposure to patient care.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

For up to 10 FTEs.
