Development Specialist

Summary:

Under general supervision and within Lifespan policies and procedures provides business analysis reporting database management and operational project management. Acts as resource steward and provides oversight of key business and operation functions including: financial and metric report generation operational project management business analysis and other duties as directed.

 

Responsibilities:

Analyzes and reports on key functions for all philanthropic foundations and their associated responsibility centers. Prepares the monthly and ad-hoc development and reports including metrics reports pipeline development reports performance analysis reports campaign specific reporting as well as other reports as requested. Provides supporting documentation for the Director of Development Business and Operations (DoD) including information and reporting that may be utilized at foundation and system board meetings and by Development leadership. Prepares the high-level donor reports including information utilized for Lifespan management reports.

Provides oversight of ad hoc reporting for each foundation.

Supports the monthly closing process.

Maintains integral data files.

 

Manages and designs integrations between various internal sources using Omatic to imports data into Raiser�s Edge.

 

Audits and maintains database records to ensure the integrity of data ensuring the system remains PHI free.

At the discretion of the DoD provides oversight for stock and or mutual fund gifts with outside investment company(s) and donors. May research and value stock and insurance gifts.

Drafts templates and assists in the review and recommendation of modifications to gift agreements and documents as necessary.

Provide reports for the audits and preparation of 990�s as requested. Reviews data to ensure that revenue is correctly categorized by fund type method as well as temporarily restricted versus permanently restricted etc. per foundation. Coordinates the gathering and review of donor documentation to address the needs of the auditors� sample testing. May perform auditing of gifts processed to ensure correct documentation and restrictions are associated with gifts. Provides support for audit preparation including data clean-up and report reconciliation.

As requested works as a liaison between Development Finance Financial Operations Payroll IS and Legal to ensure the correct facilitation of processes occur interdepartmentally. Liaison to select vendors associated with products used in support of philanthropy operations.

Provides assistance with the budgeting process for both development systemwide services and individual Foundations including research input information gathering analysis and validation.

Principle player in the extraction of data for all service areas and Foundations within Development.

 

Project manager for all data and/or system conversions.


Works closely with the Development Manager of Information Services to identify areas for efficiency and improvement in the monthly and daily closing and processes and workflow.

Develops and writes custom reports and templates in RE ACCESS CRYSTAL and EXCEL in response to requests within Development working closely with the Information services team to facilitate automation of reports.

 

Utilize power BI and other tools to automate and refine processes throughout Development.

 

Provide leadership and project management in the selection and implementation of new applications intended to advance

Generates month-end reports including: year-to-date performance analysis reports for Lifespan Development and affiliates campaign reports expense reports auditing reports past due pledge reports pledge reminders and other manual reports as requested.


Provides back-up support throughout the Development Operations and Business teams including but not limited to coverage within database services donor services business services pipeline management cash control/check handling anual program support research support as well as in other areas of Development as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Other information:

EDUCATION:

Minimum of a bachelor�s degree or equivalent along with knowledge of accounting practices business systems and fundraising software.

EXPERIENCE:

Three to five years in operational database and business support ideally within philanthropy including: accounting business systems and related applications and software. Experience with report-writing and data extraction as well as exemplary attention to detail required. Raiser�s Edge NXT experience preferred.
