Research Assistant NES

Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator will conduct specific research protocols associated with assigned research projects related to weight stigma and weight management interventions in children and adolescents. The research assistant will contribute to projects aimed at decreasing youth experience of weight stigma and bias while improving health behaviors.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assist with administrative and study management tasks such as preparation of project protocols intervention materials and assessments. Conducts research protocols in conjunction with project staff. For example assists with recruiting and enrolling eligible participants using online and community based recruitment strategies.

Assists in conducting participant visits including qualitative components. Completes all paperwork forms and logs associated with study protocol. Maintains accurate study records ensuring and respecting confidentiality.

Participates in ongoing maintenance evaluation and development of study protocol. Suggests improvements to data control instruments and measurement instruments where appropriate. Reports to Project Manager and or Primary Investigator problems encountered in performing assigned activities suggesting solutions to those problems. Works with Primary Investigators to maximize the ease of the study administration subject recruitment and follow-up.

The research assistant will work independently and report progress regularly to their supervisors. Opportunities are also available for tailored mentorship including writing and submitting scientific abstracts and/or peer-reviewed manuscripts.

Position requires flexible scheduling to accommodate program needs e.g. occasional evenings scheduled in accordance with the RAs schedule during recruitment and or intervention periods.

Performs other related duties as required.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor�s Degree in relevant field e.g. psychology public health health sciences.

Basic computer knowledge i.e. being able to navigate through PC software typing and word processing and completing spreadsheet and data entry.

Ability to appropriately collect and store various bio specimens in accordance to specific protocols

Spanish language fluency is strongly preferred

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior research experience particularly focused in the areas of psychology social sciences or medicine is appreciated.

Prior experience with technology. Participant tracking systems data analysis software using and or building websites and or qualitative data collection and analysis is preferred but not required.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Incumbent functions within the scope of department policies and practices. Refers specific problems/issues to supervisors.
