Sr Donor Relations Officer

This position is hybrid in Providence RI.


Summary:

The Senior Donor Relations Officer reports to the Chief Development Officer. Under Lifespan and Development policies and procedures manages and implements system-wide donor stewardship program coordinates stewardship activities for all Lifespan affiliates. Conducts consistent meaningful and appropriate stewardship of individual and institutional major donors and other donors that may be decided upon by department senior leadership. Works closely with affiliate CDOs department senior leadership other development department business units hospital leadership clinical staff trustees and volunteers to ensure exemplary stewardship and establish long-term relationships between donors and the institution.

 

Responsibilities:

Works in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer major gift officers and others in the department and at each hospital to develop manage and implement an innovative and first-class donor relationship program to complement the objective of the overall fundraising goals and strategies of the Development Office.





Designs and executes tailored stewardship strategies and gift recognition plans for individual major donors as well as corporate and foundation major donors in close collaboration with gift officers and prospect managers. Strategies may include special acknowledgement tours arrangement of special meetings with hospital leadership signage check presentation ceremonies other recognition events as well as any special donor recognition requests.





Conducts consistent meaningful sincere and appropriate outreach to donors including communication regarding charitable contributions that includes fiscal reporting and the impact of the donor�s giving working with Lifespan Finance department affiliate business administrators and others as needed.





Collaborates with appropriate development staff on the design and execution of selected stewardship events such as plaque viewings in person stewardship reports and dedication ceremonies that align with affiliate strategies and system policies and best practices.





Develops and sustains excellent working relationships at all levels of the organization to generate interest and participation in stewardship initiatives.



Creates annually with department senior leadership and affiliate CDOs a donor relations plan that encompasses affiliate-specific and system-level stewardship/donor relations strategies.





Creates and manages an internal process that prompts executives senior leaders and major gift officers and assists them in maintaining personal contact with major donors and volunteers.





Manages and annually refreshes and updates special occasion program that acknowledges donor�s birthdays and other significant life events.





Participates in an aggressive �moves management� program documenting all donor stewardship activities.





Participates in senior leadership group (SLG) and Major Gift Officer (MGO) meetings attending meetings and strategizing prospect cultivation management and collaborative efforts.





Collaborates with trustees volunteers and development committees as needed.





Participates in evening and weekend events and meetings with donors as these events directly relate to job duties.





Performs other duties as required.





Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital policies procedures and objectives.

 

Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor�s degree in health care administration communications or a related field or equivalent professional work experience with a track record in development-related activities (e.g. events management annual giving corporate and foundation relations).



EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five years of professional experience in the development field including direct donor relations.



Experience in health-care preferred.



Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are vital: tact self-confidence and assertiveness diplomacy teamwork good judgment confidentiality sense of humor and excellent strategic planning skills.



Exemplary oral and written communications skills are required.



Strong computer and information management skills necessary as are time management skills and excellent project management and relationship management required.



WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Duties performed in a typical office environment.
