Financial Analyst

Summary:
The Financial Analyst reports to the Manager of Financial Operations. Under general supervision and within Lifespan policies and procedures performs routine accounting tasks as scheduled including posting of standard journal entries and reconciliation of control accounts while following generally accepted accounting principles. Maintains the accuracy of the Lifespan chart of accounts as well as financial reporting rollups for month end reports. Processes and reconciles interfaces of subsystems to general ledger. This position performs routine maintenance of the Datawatch electronic reporting system including new user setup user training and security updates based on changes in reporting rollups. Reconciles and processes the month end budget to actual reports distributed to management.

 

Responsibilities:
Maintains and enhances professional expertise and skills through participation in appropriate educational and training seminars related to financial reporting.

Processes standard interface journals into general ledger system and reconciles to control totals.



Maintains Datawatch electronic reporting system user security including new user setup routine security changes and simple user security requests. Keeps security paperwork filing up to date as well as maintains user database and Datawatch User Group email list.



Trains new users on Financial reporting systems both in classroom settings as well as individual one on one settings.



Maintains Lifespan chart of accounts including departments and accounts. Verifies and files user requests updates database and updates Peoplesoft and EPSI systems following appropriate procedures for each.



Updates chart of accounts database for Research project IDs as well as performing required Peoplesoft system maintenance.



Performs daily tree audits in Peoplesoft system adding new chartfield values as needed as well as performing weekly updates of reporting rollup changes.



Processes and reconciles job code data financial reporting systems tying to both payroll interface reports as well as to Peoplesoft reports. For select affiliates also keys and reconciles contract labor hours and dollars.



Processes and reconciles account level data and verifies that rollup reports reflect current chart of account reporting rollup listing.



Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:



Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. 



EXPERIENCE:



One to three years experience in use of financial systems including general ledger financial reporting and financial data analysis.



Experience in Microsoft Office software spreadsheet and data base management software and applications is required. Requires ability to learn new systems and applications with limited formal training.



Strong organizational skills ability to prioritize manage deadlines and redirect and refocus as needed.
