Under general supervision of the Occupational Health Physician in collaboration with Lifespan Employee & Occupational Health Services Senior Leadership the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for evaluation of and development of treatment plans for the care of ambulatory patients.  Assists in the care and management of patients to include but not limited to history and physical ongoing assessment and intervention coordination of care post emergency room visits.  All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patient. Fosters patient centered care and nursing services with Lifespan�s mission vision values with consideration of the life span including all development stages as well as cultural patterns.

Demonstrates a
fundamental grounding in nursing theory and practice with mastery of knowledge
within a defined content area.



 



Manages a
caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health
status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings.



 



Provides direct
care to patients in the ambulatory setting in accordance with state licensure
and federal guidelines.



 



Demonstrates
advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills.



 



Provides
leadership in the development validation implementation and evaluation of
standards policies procedures and critical paths to support the patient care
delivery model.



 



Continually updates the occupational health physician on
the status of certain patients that do require their continued evaluation.
Oversees care coordination in the
ambulatory care settings as feasible.



 



Assists the
healthcare team to achieve mutually agreed upon healthcare goals by providing
necessary support education and encouragement.



 



Performs advanced
practice skills under the supervision of the physician.



 



Provides expert
consultation for clinical issues promoting increased knowledge and skills for
the consultee.



 



Participates in project
management and health education and advocacy for our 15000 employees.



 



Focuses on
developing preventive strategies to optimize the health of our employees for
work related and non-work-related concerns.



 



Participates in
the education clinical research and mentoring of healthcare providers.



 



Annually
completes mandatory training as assigned.



 



Prescriptive
privileges per licensure.

 

Other information:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:



 



Baccalaureate in Nursing.



 



Masters of Science Degree Graduate of accredited Nurse
Practitioner program. 



 



Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support
(BLS).



 



Demonstrates knowledge and skills
necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes
human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care
process.




EXPERIENCE:



 



Two years related experience as RN in
acute care hospital or ambulatory care setting and 5 years� experience as a
nurse practitioner in occupational health emergency medicine primary care or
preventive medicine preferred.



 



Must have a desire to develop expertise
in occupational and preventive health.



 



Candidates need superb clinical and
communication skills and a desire to be part of a dynamic team.



 



WORK ENVIRONMENT
AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



 



General ambulatory care with occasional stressful conditions
associated with patient care. 






INDEPENDENT ACTION:



 



Responds to individual patient-care
situations demonstrating knowledge and skills acquired through education
certification and work experience.
