PFS Research Specialist

Summary:
Under general supervision of the Receivables Manager performs a variety of duties related to analysis of recording processing cash posting and research of unapplied cash to the accounts receivable system for Lifespan and all affiliates.

 

Responsibilities:
Develops research methodologies procedures and tools for payment identification



Develops and recommends tools to identify erroneous or questionable cash payments.



Identifies cash application user errors based on frequency of error rate and usage trend of unapplied cash accounts.



Trains and assists users with basic primary research protocols which are available in the SMS systems.

Contacts providers banks etc to verify and reconcile payment data with the Lifespan Accounts Receivables system.



Performs a variety of quality control audits for cash control procedures cash applications and submits findings via written and or oral reports to Manager.



Analyzes batch information and recommends modifications to batch control processes.



Monitors and maintains multiple Unapplied Cash Accounts verifies reconciles and documents activity.



Participates and assists in internal/external audits providing requested information in regards to reconciliation and documentation of activity in unapplied cash accounts.



Maintains procedure manual and updates when warranted.



Assists external depts. with requests for identification of unidentified cash which require extensive and exhaustive research techniques.



Participates in councils quality improvement teams and other such committees as required.



Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established system policies procedures and objectives.

 

Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Equivalent to an Associate�s degree in Accounting or a related field.



Requires proficient knowledge of PC Internet and software applications.



EXPERIENCE:

Three years of general Patient Accounting experience including good knowledge of research methods.



Strong communication and interpersonal skills.



WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in an automated office environment.
