Our Belonging and Equity (BE) Department is led by a dedicated Vice President and Chief Belonging & Equity

Through BE, a coalition of willing employees serves on action teams with specific task-oriented goals to help
promote concepts and behaviors that improve cultural belonging. There are workstreams with focused efforts,
newsletters devoted to rotating content, educational sessions, and much more, including:
- A senior executive level Diversity Leadership Council.
- Cultural competency training and education.
- A growing list of Employee Resource Groups.
- Community partnerships and relations.
- Best practice Affirmative Action plans.
- A top-down commitment to hiring diverse team members.
- Many other best practices in belonging and equity.
Care in the Community
Across our state and region, we extend our expertise and services into the communities where people live, learn, work, play, and pray. Lifespan coordinates hundreds of programs, events, and community service activities every year, benefiting as many as 30,000 Southern New Englanders.
Lifespan Community Health Institute
The mission of the Lifespan Community Health Institute is to eliminate health disparities and promote health equity through healthy behaviors, relationships, and environments.

Corporate Citizenship
As a not-for-profit organization, Lifespan and its entities provide substantial uncompensated medical care as well as community support through education and research initiatives. We also provide donations, sponsorships, and in-kind resources to our communities on an annual basis.
