Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.

Must have licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or in another state that participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor certification within one year of hire and be certified in Nursing Professional Development within two years of hire.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.


A minimum of five years relevant clinical experience with demonstrated teaching/leadership and communication skills as well as strong presentation skills.

Demonstrated ability to effectively use a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications primarily Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as clinical documentation systems.

Able to independently operate audiovisual equipment (i.e. Smartboard). Experience with simulation scenario development and execution and debriefing techniques is desirable.

The Clinical Nurse Educator reports to the Manager of the Center for Practice Excellence and under the guidance and supervision of the Manager, collaborates with the clinical development specialist staff and assists in planning, conducting and coordinating staff orientation and educational programs.
