Job Description:
The Division of Human Genetics, Department of Pediatrics at Rhode Island Hospital is seeking a full-time genetic counselor. The genetic counselor will join a team of Clinical Geneticists and genetic counselors who see patients primarily in the pediatric and adult settings in General Genetics Clinic, Metabolic Clinic, Cancer Genetics and some Prenatal Clinic in addition to evolving specialty clinics in Cardiogenetics and Neurogenetics. Responsibilities include providing genetic counseling services, follow-up and coordination of care for patients with a personal and/or family history of genetic conditions, participate and coordinate in research activities, and serve as a supervisor for genetic counseling students. In addition, genetic counselor will work closely with laboratory medicine facilitating with best practice authorizations and consultation with ordering providers. This role has the potential for educational responsibilities including teaching first year medical students, medical residents, and non-genetics health care providers.

-Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics from an Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) accredited training program
-Be American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) board certified. If the employee is not board certified, he/she must be actively pursuing board certification
-Both experienced genetic counselors and new graduates will be considered
