Requires thorough knowledge of a specialized MRI technology. Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technology. Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, advanced MRI applications and computer operations. Basic understanding of the operation of computer consoles. MRI certification through the ARRT.
Interpersonal skills necessary to interface effectively with patients, patients’ families, departmental staff physicians, and others.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Prior experience in Ultrasound, CT, Nuclear Medicine, DSA, cross-sectional anatomy and computer operations is preferred. MRI experience preferred.
Under general supervision of the Manager, Medical Imaging for the MRI Division, and according to standard procedures, operates an MRI unit and related equipment, in order to produce MRI images of any designated anatomical area. Collects and completes records on patient data and equipment operation. Provides assistance to patients and Radiologists. Solves minor equipment problems. Performs calibration tests and other quality control functions on equipment, and notifies service personnel as required. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the geriatric, adult, and adolescent patient. Fosters patient and family centered care and nursing services in accordance with the Lifespan and The Miriam Hospital’s mission, vision, values, with consideration of the life span, including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.
