Baccalaureate Degree and Master’s Degree in Nursing with an academic focus on clinical practice, nursing education, or nursing administration required. Matriculated and committed to completion in Master’s (Nursing) program will be considered. Current license to practice in the state of Rhode Island required, APRN license or advanced certification preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five years relevant clinical experience with demonstrated leadership and communication skills. Experience should exhibit an exceptional level of written and oral communication skill. The ability to conceptualize, develop, and effect quality nursing services with a commitment to continuous quality improvement is essential. Develops and maintains expertise in the field to address questions and provide strategic direction for research, program development and quality innovation. The ability to see the potential in and use clinical information and decision support tools. The ability to understand and use statistical methods and metrics to set goals and measure clinical performance and quality outcomes.


The Clinical Development Specialist reports to the Director Professional Practice Innovation/ Magnet. Under general supervision, supports the TMH Nursing Philosophy, model of care, and the strategic initiatives of the Nursing Department. Supports the Director for Professional Practice Innovation/Magnet, and other nurse leaders in planning, designing, implementing and evaluating programs that influence and enhance evidence-based knowledge, practice and research, shared governance, the professional development of nurses, and top performance on quality outcomes. Follows the ANA foundational documents and specialty standards including Nursing Administration and Professional Development Scope and Standards, and the National Associations Clinical Nurse Specialist (NACSP) Statement on Clinical Nurse Specialist Practice and Education.
