Under supervision of the Manager, Outreach Services, or guidance of the Senior Phlebotomist and/or Lead Phlebotomist perform responsibilities associated with customer service, patient registration, test ordering, obtaining blood and various other patient specimens and specimen processing according to established procedures. Performs related clerical support activities, maintain related records and reports and support patient service center operations.

Must enter data into computerized data base which includes Life Chart and Soft lab. Clerical skills to prepare and maintain records and reports including keyboard skills to enter/access information. May require splitting or centrifuging samples and collectin of throat cultures, etc. Ability to perform, and be proficient at, venipuncture techniques and capillary puncture on adults, children and infants. Must be proficient at performing coagulation tests on patients such as bleeding times. Experience: Six to nine months of previous phlebotomy experience to demonstrate venipuncture proficiency, plus additional one to three months on the job training experience to become familiar with clerical support activities.
