A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or a counseling-related field; Master’s or Doctorate in clinical/counseling psychology or another counseling field preferred.
Knowledge of theory and techniques of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) required; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) preferred.
Professional training and previous experience in counseling for substance use disorders is required; previous training and experience in counseling for tobacco cessation and/or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is preferred.
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with study participants, patients, families, supervisors, and other hospital professionals to gather and exchange information.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to interact with study participants, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, cultural patterns, and varying literacy levels.
Organizational skills to organize and prioritize own efforts.

Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator(s), provides clinical interventions for clinical research projects according to written protocol. Current projects focus on female cigarette smokers with weight concerns. Provides full protection of participant confidentiality. Conducts brief individual assessments and individual and group intervention sessions with participants. Prepares and maintains study records.
